Introduction

The customers visiting our showroom and those we've met at various exhibitions have been getting very enthusiastic about our industrial tables & benches, and its been truly rewarding to share in their excitement and create a bespoke piece of furniture for them.

Not only do they love what we make but also the level of individual service we provide, and the fact that we're a charity seeking to help people turn their lives around.

Our tables are extremely solid & full of character, and look superb in a variety of settings – in the home or garden, in a restaurant or café, a shop or the office.

We have a range of designs you can choose from, but if you have something different in mind please let us know. This is what we're all about, and we love to hear people’s amazing and ‘off the wall’ ideas!

We want to make furniture with character & history, that people will fall in love with, furniture that will last, and in years to come will be cherished & hold precious memories.

Table tops

flick through our picture gallery of various timbers, both raw & finished

  • The wood can be left untreated, stained in numerous colours, and/or varnished.

  • When staining, we tend to dilute our stains as a concentrated stain can conceal the character & authenticity of the wood.

  • Our varnish of choice is Morrells Induro 'natro', a high quality varnish with a 0% sheen, or Morrells 9:1 5% sheen lacquer.  But we also use other varnishes to suit each customer's preferences.

  • Varnished finish included in the price.  Staining may involve additional cost.

Some of our customers prefer some colour in their table.  We achieve this either by using timber that has already been painted, or introducing colour ourselves.  This service will involve an extra charge depending on the work involved.

We use a diverse range of reclaimed pine timber, of various thicknesses, including scaffold planks, roofing & floor joists, floorboards, and whatever else we fall in love with! This is sourced from a local woodyard (We would love to use oak, walnut, &c. but it is very difficult to obtain a regular supply of reclaimed hardwood, and we are reluctant to use new hardwood sourced from Eastern Europe.)

Unlike shop-bought timber, the reclaimed timber we use has its own unique character & history and is often mistaken as oak.  Some customers like the wood with all its markings, cracks, layers of paint, whereas other prefer a more practical and 'cleaner' finish.

We can also inlay the table top with a variety of materials - slate, stone, decorative tiles, steel - or incorporate a company logo within the table top.

Table bases

The majority of our range of bases are constructed using mild steel or timber.  This year (2016) we'd like to offer the following options:

  • stainless steel

  • powder-coated finish in a broad range of colours

Please inquire about these options

All our table bases are designed by ourselves - the steel bases are cut and welded at a local steel fabricators, and we make the timber bases.  One of the most exciting & rewarding (as well as slightly nerve-wracking) parts of creating a new design is seeing our tiny sketch becoming reality!  Some of our bases are simple, some elegant, some very heavy(!), some experimental & perhaps extreme.  And we are always bursting with new ideas!

Benches

For most of our table designs, we can offer a corresponding bench design.  For some of our benches, we also offer a version with a backrest.  Please inquire if you are interested in this option.

Other projects

Over the past year we have taken on some very interesting projects.  While we currently need to be careful not to diversify too much, we'd be happy to consider any furniture ideas you have!
